Dr. Stephen Arthur Allen (euphonium) playing Napoli.

This isn't the sort of thing I normally post, then again what is?
When I was younger (so much younger than today) I used to play brass a bit. I played bugle, cornet in a silver band and was learning to play trombone. At the time I enjoyed playing quite a lot but didn't like having to do things at prescribed times (I still don't). As a result I would enjoy band practice but never wanted to go. Ultimately I had an orthodontic brace fitted which meant I couldn't play and when it was removed I never picked up a brass instrument again.
The point of that almost pointless nostalgia is that there are other members of my family who stuck with the whole musical discipline thing. The clip below is of my Cousin Stephen. I'll be honest, I'm not someone who keeps up with my family anywhere near as well as I probably should and after my sister sent me the link to the clip I had to use Google to find out a bit more about what Steve is doing now.

Wow, your cousin can really make that thing talk. Didn't know you came from a lineage of musicians, that's really cool. I propose you a deal: if you dust off that trombone and have an honest go at learning to play it again I in turn will also do something to revive my currently dead in the water old plan to learn to play guitar. I'm serious. Let's get off our respective arses and do it.

Well, I have no trombone but Womble692's wife recently leant us a trumpet. I put forward your idea, with the substitute trumpet, to Naomi but she didn't seem overly keen. Her response can be boiled down to 'Not in the house.'
I'm willing to give it a go.

We've got a public (meaning exactly that) music school just a short walk from my parent's and for a while now I've been meaning to go there to ask if they have any courses going that I can attend (I don't know if they take blokes my age, I've only seen pre-pubescent emo kids going in): I'll drop by on my way from work sometime this week, watch this space.

It's funny. I have two guitars. Both of which I don't use because I can't play a single chord.
Would love some impetus to begin learning.
We should all mutually sort it out.
As long as Jules isn't too busy playing with his trumpet.
Bring on the trumpets!
